All our laminates are click systems easily accessible to all, and many offer up to 25 year warranties.
Manufacturers are now seriously thinking about the colouring and styles of their products, never before has there been so much work put in to the look of laminate flooring. It’s becoming ever more increasingly difficult to tell the difference between laminate and real wood!
So what is Laminate Flooring?
Most laminates are comprised of high density fibreboard (HDF) backing which forms the bulk of the board, with various finishes on top. The four edges of the board are machined to form a click locking system, this allows for fitting without the uses of nails or glue. Onto this board goes a photographic film of real wood, which is what gives the boards the realistic look of wood. Finally the boards are covered with a hardened “laminate” coating; this is what makes the boards so durable and resistant to marking.
Why choose laminate flooring?
If your main concern is practicality then laminate is the obvious choice. You get beautiful hard wearing boards at the most economic prices. Despite being lighter than solid wood, it is far denser, so it doesn't dent from things like high traffic or stiletto heels, so no need to ask your guests to take their shoes off at the door. The laminate coating on the boards makes them very durable and far less prone to scuffing and scrapping, ideal for those worried about the potential damage done by young children or pets. On top of this laminates have come a long way in recent years, there is so much more choice on the market these days, and manufacturers need to stay on their toes to stay in the game. What does this mean for you? It means more choice than ever, more realistic looking boards than ever, and better prices than ever!
